Freshers

So firstly... if you're coming to UCLan this September as a fresher: WELCOME! We're really looking forward to meeting you all!!

If you haven't done so already, check out the Fresher's page on the UCCF website, there's loads of helpful stuff up there about coming to university for the first time: http://www.uccf.org.uk/freshers/

Please get in touch if you have any questions. Either use the contact page on the website, or email us individually at one of the addresses found on the committee page, or write to us at cucommittee@hotmail.com.

The Christian Union will be putting on various events throughout freshers week and no doubt you'll spot us hanging around various places on campus, giving you flyers and generally being the nice friendly people that we all are...!! Here is a quick run down of what will be going on as far as UCLan CU is concerned, between 13th-21st September 2008!!

Saturday 13th - We'll be at the two biggest halls of residence: Roeburn and Whitendale, to help you move in! We'll hopefully have badges or tshirts or maybe both(!)... to make us easily identifiable. So please come and ask us if you would like some help (I still remember how many boxes I brought last year!!)

Sunday 14th - There's nothing official planned for the Sunday, but if you're interested in finding a church please get in touch and tell us what kind of place you're looking for and someone will be happy to come with you somewhere if you want, or you can come with us to one of our regular churches

Monday 15th -  From Monday - Friday we will hopefully have stalls in the Foster building opposite the refectory, and also outside somewhere near the back of the SU, Source and St Peters. There could well be some free/cheap tea/coffee available and we'll be running campus tours for anyone who wants one, or just generally being signposts!!

7-9pm How to Cook - Salvation Army Building, Harrington St.
There'll be a couple of simply cooking demonstrations, followed by some FREE FOOD to try out what's been demonstrated (this WILL be a proper meal!) and a short Gospel talk by our UCCF staff worker Pete Dray.

Tuesday 16th - There is no special event planned, but we will be around on campus as before.

Wednesday 17th - On campus as usual...

1-2pm Lunch Bar - Location TBC
Free food and a talk by Daf Meirion-Jones (Vicar at All Saints, Preston) Title TBC.

Thursday 18th - On campus during the day...

7-9pm Quiz Night with Live Music @ Bittersuite (next to Mad Ferret opp. SU)
Basically.... it does what it says on the tin! There will also be a short Gospel presentation.

Friday 19th - On campus during the day...

1-2pm Lunch Bar - Location TBC
Free food and a talk by Des Wadsworth (Youth Pastor @ Longton Community Church)

Saturday 20th-

7-9pm Church Intro Night at Salvation Army Building, Harrington St.
If you're interested in finding a church to go to regularly this event will be invaluable! There will be some free food whilst we listen to people from various churches in Preston talk for a few minutes each about their church and what it's like. There will be opportunities to speak to people from the churches individually if you would like to, and a talk by Pete Dray on the Importance of finding a Church. Some students from the Christian Union will also talk about their experiences of finding churches.

Sunday 21st-

Time TBC!! (Early!) Church Breakfast, Location TBC!!
Basically, a gathering... somewhere...to have some breakfast together and then go off in groups together to the church you would like to visit so you don't have to go alone!!

You're welcome to any of these events whether you're British or from overseas, whether would consider yourself a Christian or not, we're looking forward to meeting you!!
